We honour the Godly heritage that has come to us through our mother and grandmother. God has been her ever-present help--and He has made her happy, because she hopes (trusts) in Him. Happy is she whose hope is in the Lord, her God.

A Sonnet

O Woman!

Nine times you created

And I am third of your creation!

I have blessed my eyes

Three times on you my vehicle

Of mystical transport.

I can vaguely remember

But you left the others and I

For to breathe long, three times.

I will spend my third Christmas

Away again.

I miss you more than three times three.

O Mother!

(Written as one of several sonnets for class while at Eastern Nazarene College, 1972. Found original while organizing during hurricane Dennis, 2005 July 07. Another follows.)

The first was filled with laughter gay

Because the work was done before,

Right then it seemed the only way

For otherwise it'd be a bore.

Much time was spent to cultivate

A taste for things not previous,

Many a thing came much too late

While others seemed delicious.

I learned a bit to interact

With people very cordial,

And this one thing I found was fact

They all weren't quite so social.

I learned through pleasure and through pain,

I know for sure 'twas not in vain.
